Tags in Song Sheet are keywords that are used to process the lines of text in a song to add whatever formatting information the user has chosen in the Settings area of the program.

For instance, if you wanted the Verse tag to be blue, you would select that color in Settings and when the program processes the song file, it would add the font attributes (size, color, name, italic, bold or underline) you selected. Note: See "Explaination of Tags" in the help file.

There are two ways to direct Song Sheet to choose a specific chord variation.

  1. By default, Song Sheet will select the ''Preferred'' Chord variant, i.e. the chord that has the ''Preferred Chord'' attribute set in the Chord Editor. To Set or Clear the ''Preferred Chord'' attribute, go the Chord Editor and;
    • Locate the current preferred chord and make sure it is highlighted.
    • Right click and select "Clear Preferred Chord".
    • Find the chord that you want to make the preferred chord.
    • Right click and select "Set Preferred Chord".
  2. Give a specific name to a given Chord Variant and use this chord name in the Song Editor, e.g. ''A(2)'' to represent second variation of the ''A'' Chord.

This can be complicated but, there is a solution.

  • Create a new file and call it "dummy"
  • Add one chord name in the edit area like this: [A].
  • Locate the desired lyrics and chords from the web.
  • Before placing the lyrics and chords in the edit area, click the lighting bolt button once.
  • Ctrl A to select all text.
  • Paste the song into the edit area and click the lighting bolt button again.

See the video above "Song file from the web".

The reason you are having this problem is explained in the help file under "Explaination of Tags". You must have a tag or chordname associated with a lyric line. If you have a lyric line without a tag or chord name the line below it will absorb that line as chords.

You need to use the Lyric Line or the Lyric Block tags

Using the Lyric Line tag.

Formatted mode:

D/F#

This is a lyric line with a chordname line above

##This is a lyric line without a chordname line above

The two ## denote that the line is a lyricline with no chordnames

UnFormatted mode:

[D/F#]This is a lyric line with a chordname line within

{ll:This is a lyric line without a chordname line within}

The {ll: } is the lyricline tag generated by Song Sheet

Using the Lyric Block.

Both modes are the same:

{solb}

Lyric line 1 with no chords

Lyric line 2 with no chords

Lyric line 3 with no chords

{eolb}

You must open the block with the {solb} tag and close it with the {eolb} tag.

See 'How to use Editor' in the help file included with the program.
